MANCHESTER — On April 29, 2012 the Ambulance Service of Manchester  (ASM) provided standby EMS support to the National Kidney Foundation for their annual Foundation Walk.

According to NFK’s Linda Zuboff, “over 800 walkers and volunteers attend the 2012 Connecticut and Western MA Kidney Walk on Sunday, April 29  at the majestic Wickham Park in Manchester.  The event, to date, has raised close to $140,000 and donations are still coming in.   Over 26 million people have chronic kidney disease and another 1 in 3 adults are at risk.  This is a staggering statistic! For more information about the walk or to make a donation, log onto www.kidneywalk.org and select Connecticut or Massachusetts.”

According to their website, the National Kidney Foundation, a major voluntary nonprofit health organization, is dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by kidney disease and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation. The vision of the National Kidney Foundation is to enhance the lives of everyone with, at risk of or affected by kidney disease.
