HARTFORD — On March 21st, ASM Paramedic Supervisor Vinnie Maston presented to the Greater Hartford Chapter of “Mended Hearts”. The chapter requested an speaker from the EMS community to present examples of the cutting edge technology presently in use in the field.

According to their website, Mended Hearts is a national and community-based non-profit organization that has been “offering the gift of hope to heart disease patients, their families and caregivers.” Continue reading

All proceeds go to benefit the Jack E. Marvin Scholarship Fund. Come join family and friends of John Marvin to celebrate his life and care for his son’s future.

John was a Hartford Police Officer killed in a motor vehicle accident on January 27, 2012. Prior to serving as a police officer he had worked as an EMT for the Ambulance Service of Manchester.

Cleared for Independent Dispatch: ASM’s Mike Mayo Completes Precepting Phase

MANCHESTER — As of March 14, 2012, ASM’s Mike Mayo has been cleared by Eastern Connecticut Health Network medical control for independent dispatch as a paramedic to the towns that ASM serves.

His preceptors were Paramedic Sue Allen and Paramedic Supervisor Mike Panciera. The full precepting phase can take ten to 12 weeks or more as the paramedic is prepped for the realities of the field. As with all precepting phases at ASM, Continue reading

MANCHESTER — On February 3, 2012 Ambulance Service of Manchester crew members Vinnie Maston and Ryan McConville responded to a non-emergency transport request from a private residence within ASM’s service area.

As per normal practice for patients who request non-emergency service from their private residence, within two weeks the patient received a Patient Satisfaction Survey. The patient and her caregivers promptly sent back a glowing response on the care she received. So glowing that it needed to be shared. Continue reading

Hartford Police Officer and Former EMT for ASM, John Marvin, Dies in Car Accident

Funeral Procession for John MarvinJohn Marvin, 28, died in a car accident in the early morning hours of January 27, 2012. John was an Emergency Medical Technician for the Ambulance Service of Manchester from 2008-2009 prior to his selection as a police officer for Hartford Police Department. Our heart goes out to the Marvin family. We also extend our condolences to the Hartford Police Department who lost a family member and friend.

Donations to John’s family can sent to “The Patrol Officer John Marvin Memorial Fund” at the Greater Hartford Police Credit Union, 50 Jennings Road, Hartford, CT 06120. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Jack E. Since purchasing the first Dodge Sprinters from American Emergency Vehicles in 2009 we have utilized a custom-made smaller-block “Sillitoe marking” design with 4 x 4 inch retro-reflective blocks (as seen in the picture on our mast-head above).
