MANCHESTER – When the dust settled on the friendly but competitive “Emergency of Hunger Food Drive,” Team Manchester won in the food count, Team Vernon won in cash, checks and gift cards and Team South Windsor won in turkeys.
In total, the three teams collected:
- 27,000 food items
- 742 turkeys, and
- Over $33,000 in cash, checks and gift cards.

“It certainly was a great showing by all three teams. Once again this year we witnessed the generosity of the people in these towns. The mood and the vibe at the stores was a little different as people struggled with their own challenges. We realized that everyone has been affected by the storms and the economy. “
“You can tell that going into the holiday season is an uphill battle for a lot of folks. But despite that people really came through for their friends and neighbors. We want to thank everyone who gave, no matter how much.”
