ASM Promotes Three to Field Training Officer (FTO)

MANCHESTER — On March 9th, 2018 the Ambulance Service of Manchester promoted three from within its EMT ranks to the post of Field Training Officer: Bianca Krzynowek, Ryan Bochman, and Kyle Caldwell. FTOs are utilized primarily to train newly hired employees in the performance of their duties as EMTs.

Kyle Caldwell: I have been with ASM now for about 5 years and an EMT for around 6. I started in EMS when I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go in my life or what I wanted to do. After a short stint working for Ellington Ambulance, I landed a job at ASM which has given me a lot of opportunity to grow. I have an amazing wife who has always encouraged me to better myself and been very patient and understanding with all the long days and hours I’ve put into this job. I am very fortunate to have both my wife and this job.


Bianca Krzynowek: My name is Bianca and I have worked at ASM for around 3 years. I am very excited to be promoted to FTO at ASM because I love meeting new people. I also think that knowing how to be safe on scene while doing this job is important and I hope to be able to instill that in my new fellow coworkers so that they can lead safe and prosperous careers in EMS. Right now I live with my German Shepard Toby and my horse, Abe. When I’m not at work I am running, at the gym, snowboarding, riding my horse, or hiking with Toby. I can’t wait to get started FTOing!


Ryan Bochman: I have been an EMT at ASM for a little over 2 1/2 years and an EMT for approximately 9 years. I have been married for almost 4 years and have just become a father to a healthy and beautiful baby boy.  I became interested in the medical field at 17 when I volunteered for Haddam Fire Company as a firefighter/MRT-now EMR. I took great pride in helping people in what might be one of the worst moments of there life. Over my time as an EMT, I have learned a lot from those working around me, as well as assisting in the education of others and students. As I join the ranks of FTO at ASM, I look forward to training and assisting new employees as they transition to working in EMS full time. I look forward to the opportunity to share the knowledge I have learned over the years with newer EMT’s to make them the best medical professional they can be.

ASM Promotes Four to Field Training Officer (FTO)

MANCHESTER — On August 20, 2014 the Ambulance Service of Manchester promoted four from within its EMT ranks to the post of Field Training Officer: Dan Hammett, Andrew Hedburg, Michael Hoyt and Brian Langan. FTOs are utilized primarily to train newly hired employees in the performance of their duties as EMTs.

Dan Hammett:   I have been with ASM for almost three years and an EMT for just over four years. I first got involved in EMS w/ the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department and was promoted to EMS Captain this past year. Some of my duties are QA/QI and to train new members which will be a great asset to train new employees. I have been married for three years and live with my wife in Scotland. I look forward to meeting new people and to train them and represent ASM!

Andrew Hedburg:  I have been a member of the ASM team for 3 1/2 years. While not at work I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife Sam our daughter Charlotte and crazy dog Otis enjoy spending much of our time out side. From sitting on the beach playing in the waves to working in our gardens. I began my career in EMS volunteering with East Haddam Ambulance. I quickly found that this job was my passion and was lucky to get hired by ASM. During my employment I have had many wonderful experiences and have found that I have a passion for teaching new EMTs. I look forward to helping  to continue to build this excellent team.

Michael Hoyt:   Ever since my first day of EMT class I have been impressed with the quality and caliber of the employees of ASM. Having the opportunity to work with new employees to ensure they meet the high standards of ASM is something I look forward to. I hope to instill a strong foundation of compassion, patient advocacy, as well as quality medical care that employees can build upon throughout their time at ASM.

Brian Langan:   I have been an EMT for nine years and an AEMT for four years. I started at ASM while in college working every weekend and when I graduated I became full time. I began my career in the first responder field with the Glastonbury Fire Department, with which I am still very active. On September 6th I will marry my fiance Natasha Snyder and I am fortunate that she understands my work hours! I have always enjoyed helping people and am happy to be able to assist in their times of need.

Aetna Promotes Tiago Paula Santos to Field Training Officer (FTO)

Tiago Paula Santos - Aetna Ambulance Service, Inc.HARTFORD — On April 9, 2013 Aetna Ambulance Service promoted Tiago Paula Santos from within its AEMT ranks to the post of permanent Field Training Officer. FTOs are utilized primarily to train newly hired employees in the performance of their duties in the provision of emergency care. Tiago had been an Acting FTO for the last, large hire class.

The FTO and new employee spend several shifts together, with an EMT partner who acts as a driver. During this time the new employee learns the ins and outs of the job done the ASM or Aetna way, including clinical skills, operations, radios, facilities, equipment and much more. FTOs are selected for their knowledge of the company, their positive attitude, willingness to teach and dedication to quality. Our companies are fortunate to have a “deep bench” in this regard.

Aetna Promotes Ashley Harkins to Field Training Officer (FTO)

Ashley Harkins FTO - Aetna Ambulance Service, Inc.HARTFORD — On April 5, 2013 Aetna Ambulance Service promoted Ashley Harkins from within its Paramedic ranks to the post of Field Training Officer: FTOs are utilized primarily to train newly hired employees in the performance of their duties in the provision of emergency care. Ashley was cleared for independent dispatch as a paramedic for Aetna Ambulance on May 4, 2012. 

The FTO and new employee spend several shifts together, with an EMT partner who acts as a driver. During this time the new employee learns the ins and outs of the job done the ASM or Aetna way, including clinical skills, operations, radios, facilities, equipment and much more. FTOs are selected for their knowledge of the company, their positive attitude, willingness to teach and dedication to quality. Our companies are fortunate to have a “deep bench” in this regard.

HARTFORD — On April 11, 2012 Aetna Ambulance Service promoted Terry Perry from within its EMT ranks to the post of Field Training Officer: FTOs are utilized primarily to train newly hired employees in the performance of their duties as EMTs.

Terry was hired by the Grady family to work for Aetna in September 2006 as an Emergency Medical Technician. He has worked in the EMS field for 16 years including in the Emergency Department at Hartford Hospital, and truly enjoys what he does. Stephanie Boutot: I am a proud mom of five kids: Andrew, Dylan, Joey, Jeremy, and Zoey.
